BACKGROUND
Why does the library host Conversations on Social Issues? Libraries in America promote the freedom of information and the open exchange of ideas. Though none of us will agree with everything that is written in all the library’s books and databases, we provide them so the community we serve can learn from a wide range of viewpoints. This same philosophy is expressed by providing space for a discussion series on social issues. By providing a forum for the exchange of ideas we are able to learn from the experiences and expertise of our Seattle Central College community. At the COSI sessions, everyone should feel free to express their own opinion and be respectful of what others have to say.
Click COSI Archives to browse sessions by quarter, starting from winter 2013. These topic guides all include recommended sources for further information, and some also provide session recordings and/or presentation slides.
