Timesaving Strategies

"How do I know which of the 2,000 articles that came up in my ProQuest search are going to be worth reading?"

  • Put phrases in quotes.
  • Use AND to combine main ideas of your topic/question.
  • Use OR to combine synonyms.
  • Too many? Add more keywords or use the database filters to get more specific
  • Too few? Remove or change your keywords
  • Look at the Title and Description or Summary.
  • Then scan the Subjects to learn what the article’s focus areas are
