Changes to our website are underway this fall. We are here to help you with any questions.

Library Policy

Currently under revision to ensure that they reflect the spirit of our mission.

Duplication of Materials

Duplication of audiovisual materials requires prior approval from the copyright owner. Owners of copyright have the exclusive right to reproduce or authorize reproduction of their work, and to publicly perform, display, or distribute the work. A copyright statement is not required to indicate copyright protection. Videos, DVDs and CDs are Copyright Protected unless the author specifically grants permission to use them.

Media & Equipment Use

The Library's audiovisual media collection and equipment are provided to library users in support of curriculum and research needs.  The library balances the right of the individual to pursue information with its mission to provide an atmosphere of teaching and learning. CDs and DVDs may be checked out by current SCC students, faculty, and staff.

Use of media equipment for purposes other than course-related research (e.g., recreational film viewing) is allowed on a space-available basis as long as the use does not interfere with student research.  All library users are expected to demonstrate respect for individuals’ rights to privacy and freedom from intimidation or harassment.  Library staff will take steps to maintain an environment conducive to study and research.

General User Guidelines

Due to limited resources, media equipment (televisions, headphones, camcorders, etc.) is reserved for the exclusive use of Seattle Central College students, faculty, and staff.  At the discretion of a librarian, visitors may use media equipment for brief periods for college-related purposes, such as:

  • Self-paced learning and test preparation
  • Completing academic incompletes
  • Working on course assignments from another Washington state community college
